What is a .ZPA file?

A .ZPA file is a special kind of file that is made by a computer program called vielklang. Vielklang is a tool that works with music software to help make harmonies in songs. When you use vielklang and add a music file (like a song in .WAV format) to it, vielklang studies the music and creates a .ZPA file. This file has important details about the song's melody, such as the musical notes, the key of the song, and how the notes are tuned. This helps vielklang to automatically create harmonies that match the original song.

You can open .ZPA files with a few different music programs. One of them is zplane vielklang itself. Another is Image-Line FL Studio, but you need to have an extra tool called the zplane NewTone plug-in added to it. Steinberg Cubase can also open .ZPA files if you have the zplane vielklang plug-in.

.ZPA files are created automatically by vielklang when you import an audio file into it. The purpose of these files is to remember the melody details of the song. This way, vielklang doesn't have to figure out these details again every time you want to work with the song, making the process faster. The .ZPA file is saved in the same place on your computer as the original song file, and it has a name that looks like the song's name but with ".zpa" at the end.

Another program called NewTone, which also works with FL Studio, can create .ZPA files. NewTone uses vielklang's technology to change the pitch and timing of audio.

It's okay to delete .ZPA files if you need to because vielklang or NewTone will just make a new one the next time you use the original audio file. This means they are not permanent and won't harm your music projects if removed.
