What is a .WOW file?
A .WOW file is a type of music file that was made using a program called Grave Composer, which people also call "Mod's Grave." This program worked on old DOS computers, which were popular before Windows became widespread. The .WOW file contains music that is made up of different notes and sounds, and it can play music through up to 8 different channels at the same time. This means it can create quite complex pieces of music. These .WOW files are quite similar to another type of music file used on Amiga computers, known as .MOD files.
If you have a .WOW file and you want to listen to it or work with it, you can use a program called OpenMPT. OpenMPT is designed to open and play these kinds of music files, and it can also be used to edit them or create new music.
In a different context, .WOW files are also used in 3D printing, specifically with a printer called SparkMaker. In this case, a .WOW file is not about music but is instead used for 3D printing. The Spark Studio software, which works with 3D models, can save these models as .WOW files. Before printing, the user can make changes to the model, like adjusting its size or shape, and then the software prepares the file for printing by a process called slicing. For the SparkMaker printer to recognize and print the model, the file must be named "print.wow".
It's interesting to note that the .WOW file extension is also used for firmware update files for the SparkMaker printer. Firmware is a special kind of software that tells the printer how to operate, and updating it can give the printer new features or fix problems.
