.WLDX File Extension

A .WLDX file is a World Map File, created by Wohlstand.

Open with Wohlstand PGE Editor. Available for Linux, Windows, and Mac.

What is a .WLDX file?

The .WLDX file extension refers to a World Map File used by the Platform Game Engine (PGE) Project, which is a tool still in development for creating video games. This type of file includes a comprehensive map layout used in game design. Specifically, it contains an overhead view of a game world, showing how different playable levels are connected. These connections are shown as paths leading to various levels, which are stored in separate files with the extensions .LVLX and .LVL.

In addition to the paths between levels, a .WLDX file can also include various other elements that make up the game world. These elements can be tiles (which make up the ground and other surfaces), scenery (like trees and buildings), music boxes (which control background music), and level entrances (the starting points for each level).

Currently, the primary way to open and edit .WLDX files is through the Wohlstand PGE Editor. This editor is specifically designed to work with files created by the PGE Project. Even though the PGE Engine itself has not been officially released, the Wohlstand PGE Editor is available and allows game developers to create and modify .WLDX files as needed for their game projects.
