What is a .WHACKER file?
A .WHACKER file is a special type of file used by people who enjoy modifying the game Beat Saber, specifically the version that runs on the Oculus Quest, a type of virtual reality headset. This file contains designs for custom sabers - the light swords players use in the game to hit blocks to the rhythm of music. These custom sabers allow players to personalize their game experience with unique designs that are different from the standard options available in Beat Saber.
To create these custom saber designs, modders (people who modify games) use a tool called the Qosmetics Unity Project. This is a special program that lets them design and build their own saber styles. Once they have created a new saber design, it is saved as a .WHACKER file.
For players to use these custom sabers in their game, they need to import the .WHACKER files into Beat Saber. This is done using two things: a mod (modification software) called BMBF, and another mod called Qosmetics. BMBF allows for custom content to be added to Beat Saber, and Qosmetics is specifically designed to work with custom sabers and other cosmetic modifications.
If you have a .WHACKER file that you want to use, you need a program called RedBrumbler Qosmetics to open and manage these files. This program works on all platforms that support the Oculus Quest version of Beat Saber, making it easy for anyone with the game to customize their sabers, no matter what computer or device they are using.
