What is a .WBN file?
A .WBN file is a special type of file that acts like a container for an entire website. Imagine you want to keep a whole website, with all its pages, pictures, text styles, and interactive parts, in one single file on your computer or share it with someone else; that's what a .WBN file allows you to do. This format was developed by a group called the Web Incubator Community Group (WICG), which works on new web technologies.
The "Web Bundle" format, as it's called, is useful because it keeps everything together. Normally, a website is spread out across many files and requires an internet connection to access all its parts. But with a .WBN file, you can have the whole site in one place, making it easier to move around, share, or view without needing to be online.
To open a .WBN file, you would use a program specifically designed for it, named "Web Archive Browsing Advanced Client." This program knows how to unpack the .WBN file and show you the website inside it just like you would see it in your web browser, but without needing to go online. This can be very handy for keeping a copy of a website for research, archiving purposes, or just for viewing when you don't have an internet connection.
