What is a .VPD file?
A .VPD file is a type of 3D model file that is specifically used by a program called MikuMikuDance. MikuMikuDance is a game focused on dance and rhythm synchronization. The .VPD file contains information about the positions of bones in a character's model, essentially setting how the character is posed. These poses can be combined into a sequence to create a full dance animation, which is saved as a .VMD file.
To open a .VPD file, you would typically use the MikuMikuDance program. This program allows you to work with the pose data, adjust it, and integrate it into animations.
If you find that a .VPD file is not syncing properly with its folder contents, there is a way to fix it within MikuMikuDance. You can go to the File menu and select the option to "Rebuild File Database." This process helps in correcting any discrepancies. Additionally, a program named VoxPro, which is now part of Wheatstone Corporation due to an acquisition, has the capability to automatically identify and fix any .VPD files that are out of sync or have been deleted, by updating or recreating them as needed.
