What is a .SN1 file?
A .SN1 file is a specific type of file known as a Drive Snapshot Backup Continuation 1. This file is part of a series of files created by a program called Drive Snapshot, which is used on Windows computers to help users back up their entire disk drives. When Drive Snapshot creates a backup, it sometimes splits the backup into several smaller parts to manage the size. The .SN1 file contains the second segment of such a split backup.
To use the data stored in a .SN1 file, it must be used together with the first part of the backup, which is saved as a .SNA file. Both files are necessary to fully restore or access the backup data. Without the .SNA file, the .SN1 file alone cannot be used effectively.
To open a .SN1 file, you need to use the Drive Snapshot software, developed by Tom Ehlert. This program is specifically designed to create, manage, and restore these backup files.
