What is a .SERATO-STEMS file?
A .SERATO-STEMS file is a type of data file used by a music creation program called Serato Studio. This program is a digital audio workstation (DAW) that helps music producers mix different sounds to create songs. One of the special features of Serato Studio is called "Stems." This feature lets producers break an audio track into separate parts, such as vocals, melody, bass, and drums.
When a producer uses the Stems feature on a song in Serato Studio, the program creates a .SERATO-STEMS file. This file stores information that helps the program manage these separate audio parts. It is saved in the same folder as the original audio track and has the same name as the track but ends with .serato-stems.
To open a .SERATO-STEMS file, you need to use Serato Studio. This is the only program designed to work with these files.
If you find that you have too many .SERATO-STEMS files and they are taking up too much space on your computer, you can delete them. Here’s how to do it: 1. Open Serato Studio. 2. In your library within Serato Studio, find and select the audio file that has a corresponding .SERATO-STEMS file. 3. Press CTRL + R (on a Windows computer) or CMD + R (on a Mac). This will open the folder where the audio file and the .SERATO-STEMS file are stored. 4. Right-click on the .SERATO-STEMS file and choose "Delete" to remove it from your computer.
This helps keep your computer's storage from getting too full and keeps your music projects organized.
