What is a .KMA file?

A .KMA file is a special kind of file that is made by a program called Correlate Client. This program is used on computers with Windows to help people organize their files better. Instead of moving or copying files all over the place, Correlate Client lets you make shortcuts to your files. This means you can keep all your important files, like those for work projects or personal stuff, linked in one place without having to duplicate them. These shortcuts are all saved together in what's called a Correlate Archive File, or a .KMA file for short.

Think of a .KMA file like a big box where you can keep all your toy cars (in this case, the shortcuts to your files) neatly stored together so you can find them easily later. These files are really useful for keeping track of lots of different files related to specific things like your job, school projects, or any other big tasks you have.

To make one of these .KMA files, you use the Correlate Client program. This program works on your computer, and there's also a version that works on the internet, which means you can organize your files from different places like Google Drive or Dropbox, or even links to websites and notes. When you want to put all your related files in one spot, you just drag them into a document in Correlate Client, and it turns them into links. So, if you're working on something like planning a marketing strategy, you can have all the files you need linked in one document. This makes it super easy to find and open them without having to search through folders on your computer.

To save these links as a .KMA file, you go to the "File" menu, choose "Save As," and then pick "Correlate Archives (*.kma)" from the list of file types. And when you want to open a .KMA file you've made before, you just go back to the "File" menu and click "Open." So, if you're using Correlate Client, also known as "Correlate K-Map Desktop," you're basically making your life easier by keeping all your important file shortcuts organized in one place, saved as .KMA files.
