What is a .FDX file?
An .FDX file is a type of document made by a software called Final Draft. This software is specially designed for people who write movie scripts, TV show episodes, and plays for the theater. When you create a document in Final Draft, it saves your work as an .FDX file. This file includes all the text you've written, how the pages are set up, and any notes you've made about the script. One of the good things about .FDX files is that they are saved in a way (using XML format) that makes it easy to move them from one computer or device to another without messing anything up.
You can open an .FDX file using the Final Draft program itself. Final Draft is available for computers and also has a version for Android devices. There's another app called JotterPad that can open .FDX files too, which is great if you're on the go and want to work on your script using your phone or tablet.
Besides being used for scripts, .FDX files have another interesting use. They can be used to share recipes! When someone wants to share a recipe from a cookbook program that supports this format, they can export it as an .FDX file. Then, someone else can import this .FDX file into their own cookbook program to view the recipe. This makes it really easy to share your favorite recipes with friends or family who use different cookbook programs. To share or receive a recipe this way, you would use the export or import option in the cookbook program.
