What is a .ECO file?
The file extension .ECO is associated with a type of file known as an ECCO Database File. This kind of file is essentially a collection of various types of information that has been organized and saved using a program called ECCO. ECCO is a tool designed to help people manage their personal information more efficiently. Within an .ECO file, you might find a wide range of data, including but not limited to a calendar with important dates, a phone book with contact details, spreadsheets for tracking different kinds of information, notes on various topics, and possibly more. To open an .ECO file, you would typically use the ECCO program itself or a version of it called ECCO Pro. These programs were specifically designed to create, edit, and view the contents of ECCO Database Files. ECCO and ECCO Pro have an interesting history. They were initially developed by a company called Arabesque Software. Later on, another company named NetManage acquired ECCO and ECCO Pro. However, both versions of the program were eventually discontinued, meaning they were no longer updated or officially supported by the company.
Despite being discontinued, there is still a way to access ECCO. A legacy version of the ECCO program has been made available as a free download. This means that even though new versions of ECCO are not being made, people who need to open .ECO files can still use this legacy version of ECCO to do so. This can be particularly useful for accessing older databases or for individuals who prefer the ECCO system for personal information management.
