What is a .BONS file?
A .BONS file is a type of file known as a Bones Project file. It is specifically created by a program called Bones, which is a modified version of another program called MIT Scratch. Scratch is a popular software used to create simple computer programs like animations or games, especially designed for beginners. The version of Scratch that Bones is based on is Scratch 1.4.
The content inside a .BONS file usually includes elements for a small animation or a game, similar to what you might create in Scratch. However, there's an important difference to Note: even though Bones is based on Scratch, you cannot open .BONS files with the Scratch software. These files are designed to work only with the Bones program.
Unfortunately, the Bones program has been discontinued, which means it's no longer being updated or officially supported. This discontinuation can make it challenging to open or work with .BONS files if you do not already have the Bones software installed on your computer. Since it's a specialized file type for a specific, now-unavailable program, finding alternative software to open a .BONS file might not be straightforward.
