What is a .BKF file?
A .BKF file is a type of file that is used to keep copies of your computer files safe. It's made by a program that comes with some older versions of Windows, like Windows NT and Windows XP Professional. You can find this program in the menu by going to Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools. When you use this program, you can pick certain files on your computer that you want to make a backup of, and it saves them into a .BKF file. This is really useful if something goes wrong and you need to get your files back.
To open a .BKF file, you can use the same Windows Backup Utility that made it, or you can use other programs like Microsoft Windows NT Backup - Restore Utility or Aryson BKF Recovery. These programs help you see what's inside the .BKF file and get your files back if you need to.
If you have a newer computer with Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10, you can still open .BKF files. For Windows Server 2008 and Vista, you use the Windows NT Backup - Restore Utility. For Windows 7, 8, and 10, you need to download a special file called "nt5backup.cab". After you have the right program, you can open it, choose "Restore files and settings", then find your .BKF file, and open it to get your files back.
Remember, if you're using Windows XP Home Edition, you need to install the Windows Backup Utility from the XP Home installation disc before you can use it to open .BKF files.
