What is a .BITSBOARD file?
A .BITSBOARD file is a special kind of file that is used with a program called Bitsboard. Bitsboard is an app that helps people learn different things using boards that can have pictures, sounds, and other information. Normally, when someone makes a board in Bitsboard, it is saved as a folder that has all these different parts inside it, like images and sounds, and a special file that tells the app how to put everything together (Bitsboard.plist).
Sometimes, if someone wants to share their board with other people, they might make it easier to send by squishing it all into one file. They do this by using something called Zip compression, which is a way to make files smaller and put many files into one single file. After they compress it, they change the name of the file so it ends with .bitsboard instead of .zip. This doesn't change what's inside; it's just a new name to show it's meant to be used with the Bitsboard app.
To open a .BITSBOARD file, you can do it on any computer or device, but first, you might need to change its name back to end with .zip. Once you do that, you can use any program that can open Zip files to see what's inside. If you're using an iPhone or iPad, there's a specific app called Bitsboard+ by Happy Moose Apps that can open these .BITSBOARD files directly, making it easy to use the boards someone has shared with you.
