What is a .AAN file?

When you're using Pro Tools and you adjust things like Analysis markers (which help the program understand the audio better) or the Event Sensitivity (how sensitive the program is to changes in the audio) in a special area called the Elastic Properties window, Pro Tools creates these .AAN files. It then stores them in a specific folder within your project called the Rendered Files folder.
However, these .AAN files are not meant to be kept forever. They are temporary, which means that once you finish your work and close your project session, Pro Tools will automatically delete any of these files that it doesn't need anymore. This helps to keep your project folder tidy and saves space on your computer.
To open or work with .AAN files, you need to have Avid Pro Tools installed on your computer. This is the only program that recognizes and knows what to do with these files.
